1780's re-enactor soldier on horseback holding American flag - screen says "In 1780, America's independence wasn't guaranteed."

Ste. Genevieve is stepping back into the Revolutionary War era this weekend as the city hosts its U.S. 250 celebration, commemorating America’s 250th anniversary and the often-overlooked Battle of Fort San Carlos. Held May 30–31 at Moses Austin Park and throughout downtown, the free event features military reenactments, colonial encampments, musket demonstrations, historical interpreters portraying figures like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin and Marquis de Lafayette, a colonial market fair, and family-friendly activities. Visitors can also enjoy period food, fashion, and an evening Colonial Ball as Missouri’s oldest town brings early American frontier history to life. See the short video produced by the organizers here.
