A community rich in history, vibrancy, and exceptional quality of life, the City of Ste. Genevieve is seeking its next talented professional to join the leadership team. Nestled along the Mississippi River, Ste. Genevieve (population 5,050) is looking to hire one position—either an Assistant City Administrator or a Community Development Administrator—based on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
This individual will help guide the City through public improvements, new enhancements, community development initiatives, and expanding grant opportunities. The City operates with a $6 million annual budget and oversees police, administration, tourism, water, sewer, street, and parks departments.
Position Overview
Core responsibilities for both classifications include:
Assisting with community development projects and long-range planning
Coordinating with departments, committees, and external agencies
Researching and preparing grants and funding opportunities
Administering historic preservation, building code, nuisance code, & floodplain ordinances
Preparing reports, presentations, and recommendations for the Board of Aldermen
Additional Duties – Assistant City Administrator
If hired as Assistant City Administrator, additional responsibilities will include:
Assisting the City Administrator with citywide projects and administrative oversight
Serving as a liaison with community organizations and partner agencies
Helping develop and manage departmental coordination and policy implementation
Qualifications
General knowledge in the areas of public administration, business, engineering, accounting, construction, and real estate
Basic knowledge of principles and practices of economics and planning required
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, planning, political science, or a related field preferable
Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills
Grant writing or administration experience is highly desirable
Valid driver's license required.
Compensation & Appointment
This single position will be filled as either Assistant City Administrator or Community Development Manager, depending on the selected candidate’s background.
Salary range: $57,362 – $80,307 DOQ, with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid holidays, a personal day, and Missouri LAGERS retirement benefits.
