Shovel in dirt - planting a tree on Arbor Day

At its April 23 Board meeting, the City of Ste. Genevieve formally honored and recognized the Ste. Genevieve County Master Gardeners for their valuable contributions to the community. Aldermanic President Joe Steiger read a proclamation celebrating the importance of trees and other greenery in enhancing property values, strengthening the economic vitality of business districts, and beautifying the city. Officials also shared plans to continue local planting efforts this year, including the addition of a ninebark shrub at Gauge Park next Tuesday morning, as part of a broader goal to achieve designation as a Tree City USA community. In addition, the City acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Master Gardeners and Downtown Ste. Genevieve, who are partnering with the City on improvements to Sara’s Garden downtown. Planned upgrades include a new pergola roof, fresh plantings and outdoor décor, and the installation of electrical infrastructure to support future enhancements.
