PUBLIC NOTICE-CUSTOMERS OF STE. GENEVIEVE PWS
STATE WATER SYSTEM ID# MO4010710
FAILURE TO MEET MICROBIOLOGICAL MONITORING REQUIREMENTS FOR DRINKING WATER
We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards.
Routine samples for total coliform bacteria are required to be collected at regular intervals throughout each month. During July 2025, we did not properly collect samples at regular intervals throughout the month for total coliform bacteria. This is a violation of Missouri Public Drinking Water Regulations.
Although this incident was not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened and what we did to correct the situation. Please share this information will all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or by distributing copies by hand or mail.
The monitoring issue occurred from a change by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to conduct sampling at regular intervals throughout the month instead of all on the same day. This has been discussed with and corrected with water plant personnel.
For more information, please contact Corey Litterst, Alliance Water Resources, at 573-883-5400 ext. 1112 or by mail at 165 S. 4th St., Ste. Genevieve, MO 63670.
Additionally, you may contact the department’s Southeast Regional Office at 573-840-9750 or Public Drinking Water Branch at 573-526-6925.
